The Master of Architecture (Professional) prepares you for a career as a practising architect. You will hone your skills as a designer of buildings and spaces—developing your ability to think visually and in three dimensions. You'll understand and implement solutions for complex buildings.

The MArch(Prof) gives you the creative and intellectual skills to tackle big 21st century challenges, such as climate change and a lack of affordable housing. You’ll consider architectural challenges as well as creative, technical and cultural issues.

Learning Structure

In your first year, or Part 1, you'll do seven taught courses. Study advanced architectural design and advanced construction theory and practice including the integration of technology. You'll explore contemporary architectural theories and learn about professional practice. You'll also study advanced research techniques, including historical and theoretical approaches.

During the second year, or Part 2, you'll complete a research portfolio or thesis under supervision from academic staff in the School.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Architectural Studies in Architecture or Graduate Diploma in Designed Environments in Architecture from this university, or an approved alternative qualification.
